Chesed Opportunities
Community Service is a cornerstone of the Brandeis Hebrew Academy experience, teaching our students the value of giving back and instilling a lifelong commitment to chesed. Each Middle School student completes a minimum of eighteen hours of volunteer service over the course of the school year, with opportunities both inside and outside the school community.
Within Brandeis, students take part in a variety of meaningful activities. They help lead events such as the Welcome Back celebration, serve as timekeepers during Parent-Teacher Conferences, assist Lower School teachers with classroom projects, support our school Rabbi with important tasks, and even design colorful murals that brighten and beautify our hallways.
Our students also extend their kindness into the wider community. They visit seniors at local nursing homes, sing holiday songs for Holocaust survivors at the JCC, and refurbish electronics for children in need. These experiences not only strengthen our students’ sense of responsibility and compassion but also allow them to see the lasting impact of their actions on the lives of others.
